YR. One POEMS

THEM

By: M. Baker

Can’t wait to be free…I’m excited

FOR this SEASON…Moreover, I’ll get to go to the MALL

SHOP and relax-it’s just something I need.

BUT..WAIT…???

That makes me stop and think…

Of those less fortunate…Who don’t have all that I do.

They may sit in my classroom and other teacher’s too…

…and they seem to go unnoticed

But those kids are ours…We’re responsible!

And they need SOMEONE to CARE.

DO others notice them too and seem to look the other way?

Is there a heart in this world?...in this school?

Yes-It’s true

I’ll SHOP at the mall and small boutiques near and far....maybe even travel

I really love to – I do!!!

We’ll have so much FUN –my family and I.

Wrapping presents and eating and staying up late.

But is it all WORTH it?

is there more to this than getting?

…WILL the MEMORIES… fade?

I love those kids from the school…surely they know that I care…

I want them to LEARN to care too

…and they do …I can tell it..

On their faces…they want to care too….but how can they prove it?

So come Christmas vacation…we’ll say our goodbyes

but some will have nothing …but they’ll know that they tried…

to make someone happy one day

And that goes a long way!!!

So yes..it’s the season and

It’s nice to get things…

BUT the memories we’ve made

That’s what counts…it’s the GIVING!!!!!?

I’m excited..OH yes but not for the same reason as others.

It’s the kids that I teach..this year..

…they have learned more than they’ll know

For they have learned about giving and benefits.

.and caring for others…and memories

NO- MEMORIES don’t fade!

They’ll stay with us ALWAYS-

And that’s more than any gifts.

HOMELESS HAIKU

By M. Baker

Wrapped delicately

Sitting on an empty stair

Desperate children

COMPASSION ACROSTIC

C-Caring about others without making any discrimination

O-over one child or the other.

M-Most people are good-Anne Frank reminds us of that!

P-People are people trying to survive

A-and it’s not always easy

S-so who are you to make it any more difficult?

S-See, it is our obligation

I-Isn’t it?

O-or is it?

N-No one can answer that but you!!!

Philanthropy

 a way to have compassion

 for others.

Where as others

 have compassion for YOU!!

And here are a few more on the topics that we have been working on…..

Perception Haiku

Perceive the world how?

Negative or Positive

Your outlook decides

It’s all up to you

How you view the world today.

Depending on God?

LIFE

Live as

If

Feelings are

Everything

Perception

Perception

Seeing the world

Around you

There’s Sandy Hook

It’s negative!

And life with GOD

It’s Positive!

Sooo…

Depending upon

which way you

 look!

Perception is the way you SEE it!

Here's my okay example!!!-not perfect-always room for improvement!!! I know you can IMPRESS me more than this.....

My snapshot...or poem
It began slowly
Splashing in the pool with friends
It ends with a BANG

Summer seemed to GO
by faster than I planned...THE HEAT:(
kept me indoors ...UGH!

Visiting my HOME..
I'll always remember it.
Trying to get back.
